The Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) is an institution of basic research and training in physical and biophysical sciences located in Bidhannagar, Kolkata, India. The institute is named after the famous Indian physicist Meghnad Saha.

IAPT was established in the year 1984 by the great visionary late Dr. D.P. Khandelwal with active support from some physics teachers with the aim of upgrading the quality of physics teaching and physics teachers through a mass movement of dedicated teachers. Since then it has grown into a major organization with more than 4000 members of which 3500 are Life-members, about 100 of them from abroad. The members include research workers, science administrators, science savvy enthusiasts, university, college and school teachers.

Indian Physics Association (IPA) was founded in 1970. IPA presently has about 3,500 members spread all over India and abroad.

INDIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The Academy, founded in 1934, aims at promoting the progress and upholding the cause of science in pure and applied branches. Major activities include publication of scientific journals and special volumes, organizing meetings of the Fellowship and discussions on important topics, recognizing scientific talent, improvement of science education, and taking up other issues of concern to the scientific community.

ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF INDIA

The Astronomical Society of India was established in 1972 and in the past thirty two years has grown to become the prime association of professional astronomers in India. The society has close to 1000 members. The objectives of the society are the promotion of Astronomy and related branches of science in India. The society organises scientific meetings, publishes a quarterly bulletin and supports the popularisation of Astronomy and other similar activities.
